R.M. William’s Outback Spectacular is …… spectacular with a value rating that equals sky high.

It is so very AUSSIE that the national pride is stirred. No cringing at the overdone or odd comedy accents here.
You’re greeted at the ‘front verandah’ and given a hat to wear – not as cool as an Akubra, but lots of fun to wear and get you in the mood for the fun inside.

Inside the huge “barn” the bar is dead ahead, and horses stabled inside add to the atmosphere with that unmistakable aroma of horses.  A black Ford Falcon XR8 ute serves as stage for the guitarist twanging out some country songs.

Outback Spectacular

Things get lively when Bluey the gangly cook with his oversize hat jumps onto the ute to warm up the crowd. Our hats are colour coded with yellow or red hatbands to divide us into opposing teams – Austral Downs and Wondoola Station. Bluey soon has everyone cackling like a kookaburra or cooeeing as loud as they can until the doors are flung open and we’re invited to go through the big wooden doors and find our seats. Inside there is tiered seating and tables surrounding the arena.  Our starters are on the tables – a mixed Bushman’s Queensland Salad served with tangy mango dressing. Soon the staff are  ‘on you like a march fly’ with beer, soft drink or wine. No chance to go thirsty in this outback setting.

Act I begins – I won’t spoil it for you. It is a very professional, slick presentation, showing off all of the best of country Australia and the aussies and aussie animals that make it ‘the lucky country’.

Acts II and III are separated by the arrival of more delicious tucker.
Main Swag – bonza Barbecue eye fillet steak, with rich gravy, seasoned with Kakadu plum sauce and served with garden vegetables and damper.
Shearer’s Dessert – deadset traditional baked Pavlova with a Queensland berry sauce and country cream.

You leave feeling well fed and very proud to be an Australian.
